Why choose DJ Maguire Dental Group?

Investing in you and your working environment

You can look forward to working at a practice dedicated to offering patients the very best by investing in in-house staff CPD and peer review through the year, as well as the latest technology, which includes SOE EXact software, digital radiography, intra-oral cameras and rotary endodontics.

Clinical training and dento-legal support

You can join our experienced clinicians across a range of specialities that we offer, including implants, orthodontics, oral surgery and conscious sedation, through dedicated mentoring. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to participate in accredited Research e.g. Choice Clinical Trial alongside QUB and University of Liverpool.

With our ongoing support and training, you can avoid unnecessary risks and patient complaints. And should a complaint arise, you'll have our in-house dento-legal expertise to lean on for support and reassurance.

A breadth of skills development

Private work, NHS work, business skills and patient communication will all be part of your comprehensive training, alongside support and encouragement for you to further your career e.g. through pursuing post-graduate studies or Dental Foundation Training as an Educational Supervisor.

We even have a strategic collaboration with the College of Medicine and Dentistry and Ulster University teaching an MSc in Advanced General Dental Practice.

Prioritising your safety and wellbeing

Your safety is our priority, which is why we provide full COVID precautions, including mechanical surgery ventilation, as well as automated computerised COVID-19 screening ahead of patient appointments.

But it isn't just your physical health we look out for, we also care about your mental health. That's why we have an in-house mental wellbeing programme, Keep Smiling.

Meet our practice owners

DJ Maguire Dental Group is led by the father and son team of Derek and Leonard Maguire.

Over 35 years, Dr Derek Maguire OBE, has grown his practice from 2 dental chairs on one site, to 48 surgeries across 11 practices, and now has over 78,000 registered patients, making it the largest entirely dentist-owned group of practices in Northern Ireland. He has held many dental roles throughout his career, such as Chair of Dental Committee with BSO, Dental Advisor with SPPG (formally HSCB), non-Executive NIMDTA Board member, and Executive Committee member of the Faculty of Dental Trainers with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He was awarded and OBE for "Services to Dentistry and the Covid-19 Response".

Dr Leonard Maguire is Clinical Lead and Operations Director or the group. In addition to these roles, he holds a variety of other positions, such as Senior Clinical Lecturer with the College of Medicine and Dentistry, Dental Representative on Southern Local Commissioning Group, Educational Supervisor with NIMDTA for Dental Foundation Training, Internal Examiner with NEBDN and Clinical Advisor with the General Dental Council.

Outside of practice work, he is also active in the community and in recognition of his domiciliary care and charitable work with local schools and communities has been awarded the Faculty of General Dental Practice Community Contribution Award 2020 from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
